Rachel Burke

Rachel has an extensive and highly awarded body of work over three decades for main stage companies, independent theatre and architectural lighting design nationally and internationally. Selected recent designs include: The Boy, George starring Joel Creasey at Chapel off Chapel, Taking the Waters for Lemony S Puppet Theatre, Facing Medea directed by Jenny Kemp for La Mama, The Ghetto Cabaret at 45 Downstairs directed by Gary Abrahams, Escaped Alone by Caryl Churchill and directed by Jenny Kemp at Red Stitch and Barnum -The Circus Musical directed by Tyran Parke and starring Todd McKenny at The Comedy Theatre Melbourne. SHIT (Dee & Cornelius) toured internationally to ongoing critical acclaim at the Venice Biennale and The Edinburgh Festival during August 2019. This followed sold out national tours of SHIT (Dee & Cornelius) and The Season (Sydney Festival, Ten Days on the Island, MIFA 2017, National Tour 2018). Rachel’s awards include eight Green Room Awards for Theatre Lighting Design, IES Victorian and National Awards of Excellence for Lighting Design in 2005, 2010 and 2019 and Helpmann Award nominations in 2005 and 2015.
